Fraudulent CDC Claims

Hunterdon County Sheriff Fred W. Brown
Warns Residents Against Scammers Making
Fraudulent CDC Claims

Hunterdon County Sheriff Fred W. Brown is advising residents to be wary of
individuals who may be going door to door trying to enter homes by
fraudulently claiming to be from the Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention (CDC), checking for the COVID-19.

Sheriff Brown stated, “The CDC is not deploying teams of people going door to
door asking questions about COVID-19. If an individual claims to be a
representative from the CDC, do not let them into your home or speak with
them. They are impostors.

There are unscrupulous individuals out there who are trying to use public
concern about the COVID 19 virus for illicit activities. If you are approached by
anyone claiming to be from the CDC, please immediately contact my office
directly by calling 908-788-1166, or your local police department.”
